Aircraft carrier is a symbol of a country's comprehensive national strength and naval strength. As a large maritime country with a long coastline and vast seas, China has long cherished the aspiration to build a home-made aircraft carrier and defend its territorial waters.
On September 25, 2012, the Liaoning warship was commissioned into the People's Liberation Army Navy. It was the first time for the Chinese Navy to have its own aircraft carrier, which marked the beginning of the era of aircraft carrier.
On April 26, 2017, the Shandong warship was launched, marking that China has fully acquired the capability to independently design, support and build an aircraft carrier, and the Chinese Navy has hereby entered the era of "double aircraft carriers."
On June 17, 2022, China's third aircraft carrier was successfully launched at Jiangnan Shipyard. It was named "Fujian" with the hull number 18. It is the first catapulted aircraft carrier designed and built entirely by China. It is equipped with a flat, straight flight deck, electromagnetic catapults and arresting devices, and has a full load displacement of more than 80,000 metric tons.
Over the past decade, the Chinese Navy has made solid contributions to safeguarding national sovereignty and world peace. China's aircraft carriers have achieved a magnificent transformation from experimental training to war preparation. With the launching of Liaoning, Shandong, and Fujian warships, China has entered the era of "three aircraft carriers."
