Located five kilometers south of Dunhuang City in Gansu, the Mingsha Mountain and the Crescent Moon Spring Scenic Spot is famous across the whole world for the “coexistence of mountain and spring, sand and water”. It is appraised as a “Unique Scenery beyond the Great Wall” and listed as a National Key Tourist Attraction of the People's Republic of China in 1994. The natural beauty of Mingsha Mountain and the Crescent Moon Spring Scenic Spot echoes the artistic treasures of the Mogao Caves.
