Cultural Heritage of Gansu province along the Silk Road (2/7)

Located at the narrowest point of the western section of the Hexi Corridor, five kilometers west of the city of Jiayuguan in Gansu, Jiayuguan is known by the name “the First and Greatest Pass under Heaven” and the communications hub of the Silk Road. Jiayuguan, known as the first pass at the west end of the Great Wall of Ming Dynasty, was designated by the State Council as one of China's foremost protected monuments in 1961. (people.cn/Liang Jian)
