Taiwan's mainland affairs chief concludes historic visit (3/7)

Wang Yu-chi (C), Taiwan's mainland affairs chief, answers questions of the press after a chat over tea with Zhang Zhijun, head of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office (SCTAO), at a cafe in the Peace Hotel of Shanghai, east China, Feb 13, 2014. The meeting carried on the legacy of another historic meeting in the same place in 1998. Sixteen years ago, on Oct 14, 1998, Wang Daohan, then president of the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), and Koo Chen-fu, chairman of Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) met at the hotel.
