The 10th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) was held in Beijing from Tuesday to Thursday. Rodrigo Salvado, director general of AIIB’s Operational Partnership Department, stated in an interview with China News Network that promoting connectivity is one of the AIIB’s core priorities.
He noted that connectivity goes beyond physical infrastructure, such as ports and airports, to include technological connectivity — a dimension growing increasingly relevant amid rapid development in artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
Salvado also emphasized that trade is another important form of connection, as it facilitates interaction between people. Therefore, the AIIB is not only investing in infrastructure projects but also placing greater focus on how those investments can tangibly improve people’s lives.
He stressed that the goal of connectivity is to foster human connection. This, he added, is also the enduring objective that the AIIB upholds through its multilateral cooperation.
