Students from 18 universities, including Peking University, Zhejiang University, and Nankai University, raced dragon boats on ice on Friday in Xilinhot, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
A total of 85 teams and 501 athletes participated in this competition, setting up 12-man and 5-man ice dragon boats to compete in 100-meter and 200-meter straight tracks. The competition attracted nearly 10,000 tourists.
The ice dragon boat race is an innovation of the traditional dragon boat sport, which retains the traditional sport's skill and competition and breaks the sport's seasonal limitations.
