Chinese consulate in San Francisco condemns attack after car crashes into visa office

The Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco said in a statement that an unidentified suspect violently rammed a car into the visa office at the consulate on Monday afternoon, posing a serious threat to the life and safety of staff and people on site, and causing serious damage to the facilities and property of the consulate. 　

The Chinese consulate severely condemns this violent attack, and reserves the right to pursue responsibilities related to the incident, a spokesperson for the Consulate General said. The consulate　has made solemn representations to the United States, demanding that the truth be quickly ascertained and dealt with seriously in accordance with the law. 　

Police closed part of the road after the incident. The driver was shot by police and declared dead later at the hospital, the San Francisco Police Department said on Monday.
