Large-scale search and rescue operations have been underway in China's Fujian Province after Typhoon Haikui struck and caused widespread flooding across the region.
Several areas in Fujian, including Fuqing County, Yongtai County and Minhou County, were hit by heavy rainfall and recorded 24-hour rainfall exceeding 300 millimeters. All rescue forces raced against time to search, rescue and transfer trapped people.
Rescuers were deployed to flood-hit areas, where they distributed drinking water, bread, and other basic supplies to villagers. Carrying the elderly in waist-high floodwater, they also transferred trapped residents to safe locations via rubber boats, lifelines and ladders.
With rescue boats navigating the alleyways, rescuers are still searching for hours to find whether there are residents stranded in their homes.
