The high-speed railway section between Nanning in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Libo County in Guizhou Province became operational on Thursday, marking the launch of full-scale services of the Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway.
The Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway, spanning 482 kilometers, connects Nanning in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region with Guiyang in southwest China's Guizhou Province. The railway passes through over 30 ethnic settlements, including Maonan, Yao and Bouyei.
The Nanning-Libo section of the railway spans 307 kilometers with eight stations. The design of some stations was inspired by the style of ethnic group buildings. Hechi West Station incorporates the elements of Ganlan, which is a vernacular architectural archetype, Wang Huibin, project manager of station building of Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway, told China News Service.
The Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway is expected to enhance the interconnection between China's western regions and ASEAN countries. As the high-speed railway bacame fully operational, the journey from Guiyang to Nanning has been shortened to less than three hours, which will play an important role in promoting people-to-people exchanges and bilateral trade between China and ASEAN countries.
