Peacock dance performed on the banks of the Mabja Zangbo River in Purang county, Tibet Autonomous Region, is a traditional folk dance with a long history. The dance was inspired by the source of the Mabja Zangbo River, which resembles the crown of a peacock.

Male and female dancers performed in a line or circle as they sang and danced, and mimicked the movements of a peacock by shaking their head and shoulder, waving their hands, kneeling down placing wine cups on the ground.

The folk dance is usually performed in celebration of festivals, marriage and housewarming.
