New Q-Train put into service in HK

A new Q-Train, made in the Chinese mainland, was put into service in Hong Kong on Sunday. The first special train left Choi Hung Station at 8:58 a.m. for Tiu Keng Leng on the Kwun Tong Line.

A large number of Hong Kong railway fans and passengers packed into the station and cheered for the new Q-train. They rushed into carriages to take photos and videos once the train doors opened.

It is reported that Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway spent about HK$6 billion to purchase 93 eight-carriage Q-trains from CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. to fully replace all the first batch of Britain-made trains currently operating on the Kwun Tong, TsuenWan, Island and Tseung Kwan O lines.
