This is the largest wind power plant in Asia -- Inner Mongolia's Huitengxile Wind Power Plant. Wind power, an ancient invention with a history of thousands of years, is being used in tandem with the climatic conditions the vast land has to offer, to be converted into an endless stream of electricity.

2,900 kilometers away, on the vast grassland of Burqin County in Xinjiang, the wind power project is in full swing. It is estimated that after connecting it to the grid at the end of 2022, it will generate about 330 million kWh of electricity every year, reducing carbon emissions by more than 270,000 metric tons and coal consumption by about 100,000 metric tons.

In the wind power plant in Pinghai Bay, Putian, Fujian on the southeast coast, Shanghai Electric's 7 MW wind power generation unit, which has the largest single-unit capacity and the most mature commercial operation in China, is running smoothly. Each windmill generates 11 kWh of electricity per revolution, equivalent to a family's electricity consumption within a day. That is to say, the power generated with 10 revolutions is sufficient to drive a new energy vehicle from Beijing to Shanghai.

Over the past decade, wind power generation in China has got on a fast track, with the amount of power generated continuously topping the global chart. By the end of 2021, the cumulative installed capacity of wind power in China has exceeded 300 million kW. Specifically, in 2021, the newly added grid-connected installed capacity was 47.57 million kW, the wind power generation reached 652.6 billion kWh, and the average utilization rate of wind power was 96.9%.

Today, from the southeast to the northeast, wind power is blooming across the country. As stated in The 14th Five-Year Plan on Modern Energy System Planning, in the next five years, China will advance the large-scale and quality development of wind and solar power generation on all fronts.

As one of the most promising options of power generation, wind power is taking off following the inexorable trend in the era of green development, providing strong support for China's drive towards "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutrality". ?
