(ECNS) -- "Most people didn't understand why three doses of the protein vaccine against COVID-19 were recommended at first. But its fundamental principle indicates that only one dose is not enough," said Gao Fu, member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in an interview.
"Whether we still need a fourth or fifth vaccine dose after a booster shot is a matter of science and takes time to decide. If antibody levels in our bodies drop after vaccination, it is necessary to get a booster shot. So, we still need time and data to determine whether a fourth or fifth vaccine dose is needed," said Gao, also director-general of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
