Young man devoted to Olympic collections

(ECNS) -- Zhang Wenquan, 35, was born and raised in Beijing, the capital of China.

He became interested in the Olympics when he was a teenager and learned that Beijing was bidding for the Games.

Zhang started his Olympic collection in 2000 when the Olympic Games were held in Sydney. So far, he has more than 5,000 Olympics-related collections from all over the world.

"I prefer to collect mascots, landscape flags, torch models, as well as books and uniforms. The most important thing for me is that collecting makes me feel particularly happy. Also, I like designs related to Olympic Games, and I've made many friends thanks to the collection habit. For example, I've made a lot of friends who collect Olympic souvenirs," he said.

In 2008, Zhang, who was in college at the time, became a volunteer for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and worked as a printed result distribution assistant at Wukesong Baseball Field.

Zhang said the Olympic Spirit has been encouraging him.

Zhang believes that the Olympics are related not only to athletes and countries, but also to everyone.

The hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics has promoted the development of ice and snow sports in China, he said, adding that sportsmanship has become a part of everyone's life.
