China's Ministry of Commerce on Friday announced the launch of an anti-dumping investigation into imports of certain CT (computed tomography) medical X-ray tubes originating from the United States and India.
According to the notice, the products under investigation are X-ray tubes and their inserts driven by ball bearings to rotate anode targets at high speed. These tubes are designed for use in CT scanners with 16 or more detector rows.
The ball bearings used are high-precision components made with high-temperature tool steel and solid lubricant coatings. They offer advantages such as high rotational speed, wear resistance, load-bearing capacity, and heat tolerance.
These X-ray tubes serve as the radiation source in CT scanners. Their core component, the tube insert, cannot be installed or used independently and must function as part of a complete X-ray tube assembly.
Based on the evidence provided by the applicant and a preliminary review by the ministry, the company's total production volume meets the qualifications required for such applications under relevant Chinese anti-dumping laws.
The dumping investigation period is set from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, while the injury investigation will cover the period from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024.
The scope of the investigation includes certain CT medical X-ray tubes and their inserts originating from the U.S. and India.
The investigation officially commenced on April 4, 2025, and will typically last for 12 months, with a possible extension as permitted by Chinese regulations.
