(ECNS) -- China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand launched the 154th joint patrol and law enforcement activities in the waters of the cross-border Mekong River on Tuesday.
The operation marked the 38th International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26. Prior to the operation, law enforcement authorities from the four countries gathered at the joint command center to hold a commanders' meeting. They jointly formulated the action plan and launched a series of anti-drug themed publicity campaigns. The command post for the operation was established aboard the Chinese vessel 53107 to oversee the mission.
During the operation, law enforcement vessels from the four countries displayed multilingual anti-drug watchwords, extensively mobilizing residents along the river basin to join the efforts in combating drug-related and fraud-related crimes in the region.
