(ECNS) — A section of the approach to the Houzi River Grand Bridge on the G76 Xiarong Expressway collapsed Tuesday morning following a landslide caused by heavy rainfall. No casualties were reported. The collapse occurred around 7:40 a.m. near the 1,264-kilometer mark on the Gedou section, which links Guangxi and Duyun in Guizhou Province.
Preliminary reports confirm that a truck was crossing the bridge at the time of the collapse. However, its occupants were safely rescued without injury. Three construction vehicles parked beneath the bridge were confirmed empty via drone surveillance.
Emergency response teams, including personnel from transportation, public security, and disaster management departments, are coordinating rescue efforts and traffic rerouting. An investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway, alongside further response measures.
