ECNS) -- China urges the U.S. government to correct its wrongdoings and safeguard the lawful, legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students studying in the U.S., a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. said at a press conferenceon Thursday.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Wednesday that the U.S. will start "aggressively" revoking visas of Chinese students.
The U.S. move will seriously damage the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students studying in the country, and will further damage its international image and national reputation, the Chinese spokesperson said, and China firmly opposes such a political and discriminatory act.
The Chinese embassy has made solemn representations to the U.S., urging the U.S. government to correct its mistakes immediately.
