(ECNS) -- All three workers were confirmed dead after being trapped in a flooding accident at a coal mine in northwest China's Gansu Province, local authorities said on Monday.
The incident occurred at 7:43 p.m. on Sunday at Wangjiashan Coal Mine, operated by Jingyuan Coal Energy Co., when water burst into the mine's No. 1 shaft, authorities said.
Rescue teams launched an immediate operation after the accident was reported. The bodies of all three missing miners were recovered by 1:02 p.m. on Monday, but none showed signs of life, officials confirmed.
Currently, post-accident procedures are underway.
