(ECNS) -- China on Wednesday announced adjustments to its drone export control measures, requiring exporters to seek the approval for certain types and related equipment while banning those intended for military purposes, according to a notice issued by the Ministry of Commerce and two other government departments.
Optimization includes the addition of high-precision inertial measurement devices to the control list and the removal of temporary controls on certain consumer-grade drones.
The ministry has also adjusted control standards for infrared imaging equipment and target indication lazers, among other important components.
The new regulations will take effect on Sept. 1.
A spokesperson highlighted that this adjustments reflect balance between development and security, and would better safeguard China’s national security and interests, fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation, and ensure the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains.
On July 31, 2023, the Chinese government introduced policies related to drone export controls.
