(ECNS) -- A Sudanese student majoring in Chinese International Education at Lanzhou University, has said she hopes to become a Chinese language teacher and bring her knowledge of Chinese culture to the Sudanese people after graduation.
Yan Qing (Chinese name), built a bond with China in her childhood when she saw many construction workers help build schools in her hometown.
"To my surprise, they knew a bit of Arabic, and that’s how we got to know each other. I enjoyed communicating with them and went to see them every day with my younger brother," Yan recalled.
Yan's father is an engineer and meets many Chinese people at work.
In her father's eyes, Chinese people are rigorous, kind, and tolerant, and he enjoys associating with them.
Having seen the Chinese build hospitals, schools, and stadiums for the locals, Yan truly experienced the friendship and help from a distant country.
After entering university, she majored in psychology in Sudan and still couldn't let go of her love of learning Chinese, which she studied on her own after school.
The Confucius Institute was located opposite her school, and whenever there was a Chinese language test, Yan would sign up.
In 2019, with her efforts and the support of her family, Yan came to China to study in Lanzhou, Gansu Province.
"I knew China was developing very well, but after coming here, I was still shocked by its beauty and prosperity. China is even more convenient than I had imagined,” Yan exclaimed.
At first, Yan would get lost in the subway stations, but now she shuttles freely through the city.
"I love shopping, and I am very satisfied with China’s advanced online shopping," Yan said.
Now, she has mastered a variety of shopping software, buying clothes, electrical appliances, and gadgets online.
Yan said she will continue to pursue a master's degree in Chinese International Education and bring her knowledge back home.
