(ECNS) --The Shenzhen Customs Anti-Smuggling Bureau said Thursday it handled 241 drug smuggling cases between June 2024 and June 2025, seizing 812 kilograms of narcotics, including methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana.
While the global logistics network has expanded rapidly through interconnected hubs, it has also been exploited by traffickers attempting to bypass detection. In response, customs authorities have developed an intelligence analysis system targeting both cargo and postal delivery channels.
On Sept. 23, 2024, it seized 125 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a subsea valve box aboard a foreign cargo ship transiting via Shekou Port.
In October 2024, customs reported a joint anti-drug operation. Through extensive follow-up investigations and network tracing, it successfully dismantled a gang engaged in smuggling and using psychotropic substances regulated under Chinese law to commit crimes.
