(ECNS) -- Foreigners are increasingly engaging with Chinese culture, technology, and entertainment, broadening their perceptions and finding emotional resonance, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said Thursday.
Trends like China's booming designer toys, popular dramas, and immersive travel experiences are making the country appear “cool” to global audiences, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian.

Lin made the remarks at a regular press briefing when asked about the growing global popularity of Chinese technology, video games, and cultural products - trends that are making China appear “cool” and enhancing its international image.
A more real, multidimensional, and complete picture of China is becoming visible to an increasing number of people, he noted.
The spokesperson said trends such as “China Travel,” AI exploration, and the global appeal of Chinese designer toys and TV dramas show how more foreigners are engaging with China and gaining a deeper understanding of the country.
Lin said China would continue to open up on a broader scale, innovate with a wider vision, and cooperate at deeper levels, sharing more opportunities and benefits with the world.
Recently, a Chinese quirky, “ugly-cute” designer toy Labubu has taken the world by storm. Long queues formed outside Chinese trendy toy company Pop Mart stores in major cities from Los Angeles to London, Milan to Tokyo.
With region-specific versions like the traditional silk costumes in Thailand, and the Spanish bullfighter outfit, Labubu is finely tuned to local aesthetics, bridging emotional gaps between Chinese products and global audiences. It has even been named "Amazing Thailand Experience Explorer" by Thai authorities.
