(ECNS) -- China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) announced that the world's largest dual-fuel container ship, with a capacity of 24,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), was delivered in Shanghai on Tuesday.
The vessel will be deployed in the Far East regions - Europe trade route.
The ship can carry up to 220,000 metric tons of cargo and stack approximately 24,000 containers, equivalent in height to a 25-story building. Powered by liquefied natural gas, the ship is capable of sailing nearly 20,000 nautical miles on a single voyage.
It is the most advanced of its kind in the world with the largest container capacity, said Wang Jiaying, a representative of CSSC.
An expert said that China has consistently broken records in container shipbuilding, progressing from 21,000 TEU vessels to 23,000 and now to 24,000, while also shortening construction times. These achievements underscore China's rapidly advancing shipbuilding capabilities.
