(ECNS) -- China's first AI pediatric doctor participated in a multidisciplinary consultation at Beijing Children's Hospital last Thursday, assisting a team of 13 experts in diagnosing a complex case.
This milestone highlights the growing role of AI in pediatric healthcare, improving diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
Medical experts first reviewed the patient’s history and suspected the skull base mass to be either a dermoid cyst or a tumor, recommending further MRI evaluation. The AI pediatric doctor independently analyzed the case and reached similar conclusions to the expert panel.
Ni Xin, head of Beijing Children's Hospital, said that the AI doctor has been trained based on decades of medical records and expert knowledge, which cover common and complex pediatric diseases.
The AI assists in clinical research by providing quick access to the latest medical guidelines, supporting doctors in treating complex cases.
Beijing Children's Hospital plans to launch family-based and community-based AI pediatric doctors to support primary healthcare institutions, safeguarding the health of China's 300 million children.
