China on Thursday called for constructive dialogue and cooperation to solve dispute over human right issue in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and reaffirmed its adherence to denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.

"China has always stood for dialogue and cooperation as a way to solve disputes on human rights," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei at a press briefing.

Hong's remarks came while commenting on a statement by the DPRK Foreign Ministry on Thursday that US hostility over the DPRK's nuclear tests had the opposite effect.

The statement follows a UN resolution on the DPRK's human rights record passed on Tuesday.

Hong reaffirmed China's "clear stance on the [DPRK] nuclear issue", encompassing denuclearization, as well as peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

He said all relevant parties should endeavor to ease the situation and create a conducive environment to restart the six-party talks.

The six-party talks, a mechanism aiming to solve the Korean nuclear issue, involved China, the DPRK, the United States, the Republic of Korea (ROK), Russia and Japan.

The talks were initiated in Beijing in August 2003 but have stalled since December 2008.
