2013-02-23 09:40 Xinhua     Web Editor: Wang YuXia comment

China is committed to denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said in Moscow on Friday.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has already made statements concerning the latest nuclear test conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Yang said, adding China will strive to safeguard peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

The DPRK conducted its third nuclear test on Feb. 12 despite international opposition.

Speaking to reporters following talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Yang said China believed the six-party talks between DPRK, South Korea, China, Japan, Russia and the United States remains an efficient platform to discuss and tackle the nuclear issue, safeguard peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and long-term stability in Northeast Asia.

All countries in the Asia-Pacific region should commit themselves to regional peace, stability and development with concrete steps, said the top Chinese diplomat.
