Chinese FM reconfirms Diaoyu Islands position

The Chinese Foreign Ministry's newly appointed spokeswoman on Monday reiterated that it is normal activity for Chinese vessels to exercise China's jurisdiction over the waters around the Diaoyu Islands.

Hua Chunying said at a daily press briefing that current difficulty in Sino-Japanese relations was entirely caused by the Japanese side.

Currently, there is no arrangement for a bilateral leaders meeting between China and Japan on the ASEAN+3 (China, Japan and Republic of Korea) Summit, according to Hua.

She urged the Japanese side to correct mistakes and show sincerity to properly solve the current problems so as to ease bilateral ties back to the track of normal development.
