Romanian PM aims for enhanced cooperation with China

 Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Wednesday said he looked forward to enhanced cooperation with China in 2013.

"I have publicly announced my main external objective after elections in China and Romania this year is for the new governments and political leadership in both countries to start a substantive cooperation plan," Ponta told Xinhua.

He added there were many bilateral projects in economic development, infrastructure and culture which were delayed during this period of change.

"In 2013, I want very much to come to Beijing with a government delegation, together with businessmen, and put all these projects into practice," he stressed.

"I think 2013 will be the year of materialization of these projects and I am very optimistic about this," Ponta added.

"We have taken legislative and governmental measures for big Chinese companies to be able enter Romania more easily," said the prime minister, specifying Bucharest authorities would simplify the visa regime for businessmen as well as tourists.

Ponta said the fact Romania acts as a gateway to Europe from the East would be a distinct advantage. He also highlighted the Chinese business community in Romania which he said was hardworking and well respected.
