Zhu, once a motorbike repairman in Kaiyuan, built the jet with five buddies. They finished the plane in less than a year. The 38-meter-long, 36-meter-wide and 12-meter-tall aircraft cost 800,000 yuan (121,000 US dollars) and needed more than 40 tonnes of iron.
