Members of the Japanese Lawyers League pay their respects to those who died in the Chongqing air raid campaign during a visit to the city on May 4, 2015. The lawyers also brought letters of support from 13 members of Japan’s lower house, the House of Representatives, and upper house, the House of Councillors. The league has helped survivors of Japanese attacks on Chongqing during World War II to collect evidence and appeal for compensation from the government in Tokyo. The Tokyo District Court in February ruled against a group of Chongqing bombing survivors who sued the Japanese government and asked for apology and compensation.
