Ministry of Agriculture starts program to protect cowfish(4/5)

Cowfish, the only hydrophilous mammal in the Yangtze River, is facing extinction as there are only about 1,000 left in China and is reducing at a rate of 13.7% each year. To call for protection of cowfish, the Ministry of Agriculture has started a program recently. As part of the program, researchers began to choose 8 cowfishes in Poyang Lake and change their habitat to nature reserves in Hubei and Hunan Provinces from March 19. (Xinhua/Zhou Mi)
