Kun Opera performers have the make-up applied backstage in Chenzhou, Central China's Hunan province, November 27, 2014. Young performers from seven troupes in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hunan and other places got together for performance in the city's "Xiang Kun Yuan" classical theater. Kun opera was developed in the 14th century during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and is one of the oldest forms of Chinese opera. In 2001, Kun opera was listed as the Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.[Photo:China News Service/Yang Huafeng]
