Giant Wild Goose Pagoda at present and in the past. The original pagoda was built during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang in 652 to store images of Buddha and sutras taken back from ancient India by Xuanzang, a Chinese Buddhist monk. The pagoda is the largest brick tower dating back in Tang Dynasty. (Cnwest/Li Gaofeng)
