Seasonal livestock migration in Altay, Xinjiang (2/9)

Hundreds of thousands of sheep and cattle are shepherded across grassland during a seasonal livestock migration in Altay, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the middle of September, 2014. Local herders who follow a traditional transhumant way of life move their livestock to the cooler highland areas in the spring and summer seasons, and then towards the warmer lowlands in the winter.
