According to the famous scientific journal Current Biology on June 6, 2014, sexually dimorphic tridimensionally preserved pterosaurs and their eggs are discovered in Hami, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. The specimens are named Hamipterus tianshanensis: "Hami," referring to the region where the specimens were found; "pteros," Greek, meaning "wing"; and "tianshanensis," referring to the Tian Shan Mountains in Xinjiang. So far, Hamipterus is the first pterosaur recorded from the Turpan-Hami Basin. [Photo: China News Service / Zhao Chuang]
