Affected by a strong cold front, northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region has experienced a strong freezing weather process.
The lowest temperature was recorded in Fuyun County of Altay Prefecture at minus 52.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday, breaking the extreme lowest temperature on record in Xinjiang set on January 21, 1960.
The local meteorological service has strengthened its 24-hour duty, which includes timely monitoring of weather changes and releasing relevant information.
