Powerful drum beats resounded in Tianwai Village, Tai'an, east China's Shandong Province. People beat the traditional "Taishan Shengshi Drums" to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
The drum beating has been inherited for more than 600 years in over 10 villages at the foot of Mount Tai. During major festivals and harvests, people living at the foot of Mount Tai would express their joy by beating drums.
