Longmen Bridge, the longest cross-sea bridge in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, saw its main bridge with a 1,098-meter span joined together on Monday, laying a solid foundation for the target of opening to traffic in 2024.

The bridge stretches 7.64 kilometers. It will be able to meet the navigation demands of 20,000-metric-ton ships. The bridge will shorten the travel time between Fangchenggang and Qinzhou Port from 90 to 25 minutes.

The bridge is expected to become an important passage in the Beibu Gulf economic zone, pushing forward the zone's development of industries, transportation and tourism.
