With broad leaves and thick trunks, an apple tree thrives in Penglai, east China's Shandong Province after 139 years of baptism by wind and rain.

As China's longest surviving apple tree, it has recently entered the harvest season. Its crown is 9.2 meters long from east to west, and 11.7 meters long from north to south, and the tree stands at an impressive 6 meters high.

Under the scientific and careful management of recent years, the tree is able to produce about 2,500 to 2,600 apples annually, with an output of 750 to 800 kilograms.
