The Flying Tigers delegation, including Jeffrey Greene, chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, and Flying Tigers veterans and their descendants, visited Liuzhou in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Sunday. Their tour included a stop at a school in Liuzhou, recalling history and making exchanges with local students.
During World War II, a small group of volunteer U.S. aviators came to China to join the battle against Japanese aggressors. They were known as the Flying Tigers. Now, some of the veterans and their families are on a tour around China to rekindle the friendship formed during that special time eight decades ago.
"I'm so excited to be with you and move to China to celebrate the shared history of China and the Flying Tigers. We can promote peace and prosperity by remembering the sacrifices great grandparents made so that we could have a better life," Jackson Long, a descendant of Flying Tigers veteran, told China News Service.
