The Moscow Zoo announced on Sunday that the giant panda cub born in the zoo is a female. Both the giant panda mother Dingding and her cub are healthy.
It is reported that the giant panda cub weighs 1,288 grams and is 36.8 centimeters long. Experts from China say that all indicators of the giant panda cub are normal, and the newborn at the Moscow Zoo is developing normally and gaining weight steadily. According to the suggestions of Chinese experts, the Moscow Zoo has prepared complete inspection equipment for the panda cubs in advance, which can maintain the appropriate temperature and humidity.
The Moscow Zoo shared the news on social media, noting that experts regularly check the panda cub. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin posted on social media on Sunday that Moscow Zoo staff and experts from China have been observing the female giant panda Dingding and her cub day and night. Dingding is now steady and able to eat bamboo and rest peacefully while the staff takes the cub for tests.
Moscow Zoo announced on Aug. 30 that the giant panda Dingding gave birth to a cub in the early morning of Aug. 24. This is the first to be born in Russia. Giant pandas Dingding and Ruyi arrived in Moscow in April 2019 from China's southwestern Sichuan Province.
