Japan started releasing nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the Pacific Ocean on Thursday.

In response to this, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China issued a notice stating that it would immediately suspend the import of aquatic products originating from Japan.

The safety concerns arising from the release of nuclear-contaminated water have drawn significant attention to the food safety of Japanese cuisine restaurants serving domestic customers.

Reporters from China News Service conducted street interviews with several Beijing residents. Some of the interviewed individuals expressed cautious attitudes towards continuing to consume Japanese cuisine.

At the same time, several domestic Japanese cuisine chain restaurants have clarified the issue of food sourcing, stating that their ingredients meet safety standards and they refuse to use materials from the affected regions of Japan.
