Türkiye starts producing high-speed subway trains with Chinese collaboration

The signature ceremony　of the localized manufacturing project of the Istanbul Airport Line was held　on Wednesday in Ankara, the capital of Turkiye.　This project is a collaboration between Turkish and Chinese companies. It will produce Turkiye's first and fastest unmanned high-speed subway train. 　

The subway train was developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd., a Chinese company specializing in electric locomotives. It has a design speed of 120 km/h and a maximum passenger capacity of 1,100 people. 　

With the localized manufacturing project, more than a dozen Turkish companies will join forces with CRRC to produce more subway trains locally. The project aims to achieve a localization rate of 60 percent, which means more development for TTurkiye's rail transit industry chain. 　

The Istanbul Airport Line is already operating as Turkiye's first high-speed subway line, connecting the city center with the new airport. It can carry 800,000 passengers per day.
