An exhibition of royal relics of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) in Hebei Province, jointly organized by the Jilin Provincial Museum and Hebei Museum, opened on Tuesday in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province.
More than 280 sets of cultural relics are on display in the exhibition, such as gold, silver and bronze wares, jade ware, and pottery, with exquisite decoration and craftsmanship.
A replica of the well-known bronze artifact Changxin Palace Lamp was displayed in the center of the exhibition hall.
Its overall shape is the image of a maid kneeling and holding a lamp. Her left hand supports the lamp's base while her broad sleeve hangs over the top to make a natural vent to draw away the smoke.
According to the narrator, the lamp is hollow inside, and the smoke produced when the candle burns can enter the lamp along the sleeve, effectively preventing air pollution.
