The Kunming Dounan Flower Market in southwest China's Yunnan Province was crowded with guests on Monday. Data from Kunming International Flora Auction Trading Center showed that 56.42 million branches of fresh-cut flowers were traded between Jan. 24 and Feb. 8, up nearly 40 percent year-on-year. With the full recovery of logistics, aviation capacity, the demand has been surged for fresh-cut flowers.
Having been developed for more than 30 years, Dounan flower market has formed an industrial cluster with two leading enterprises as the core, the only national flower trading market in China and the largest flower auction market in China, also the second largest in Asia. In addition to auctions and face-to-face offline transactions, some florists in Dounan also sell flowers online through live streaming.
As the largest market for fresh-cut flowers in Asia, Dounan has been an indicator for this market throughout China. It also exports its flowers to more than 50 countries and regions including Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
