China sent a new experimental satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwestern China's Sichuan Province at 12:43 p.m. on Thursday (Beijing Time).
The satellite, Shiyan 10-02, was launched aboard a Long March-3B carrier rocket and entered its planned orbit successfully.
The satellite is tasked with demonstrating new technologies that will be used for monitoring the environment in space and other purposes.
The launch was the 458th flight mission of the Long March series rockets.
