The yearning to fly to the moon among Chinese people can be traced back to the ancient legend of the Moon Goddess Chang'e. Now, the dream has come true.
Three. Two. One. Lift off.
In 2007, China's first lunar orbiter, Chang'e-1, was successfully launched, marking the beginning of China's lunar exploration program. In the subsequent years, China's moon probes have successfully circled the moon, landed on the moon and returned from the moon with lunar samples.
In 2020, Chang'e-5 brought 1,731 grams of lunar samples back to Earth. Hence, China completed its three-step lunar exploration program, with great success in all six missions.
As a milestone of China's lunar exploration program, Chang'e-5 was also the world's first space operation in 44 years to bring lunar samples back to Earth. Analysis of the moon samples has laid the foundation for China's planetary exploration. Sharing the research results with the world, China has also contributed to the expansion of human knowledge.
Now, China's Phase-4 lunar probe mission is proceeding smoothly. The mission is expected to explore the Moon's South Pole region and build the basic structure of the International Lunar Research Station.
It is a never-ending quest for space. China will continue its lunar and planetary exploration, achieving new accomplishments, and making new contributions to mankind.
