Dashixia Water Control Project under construction in Xinjiang

(ECNS) -- The construction of Dashixia Water Control Project entered a crucial period at the Kumarak River in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region this year.

The multi-functional water control project started in 2019. It is expected to take eight and half years to finish to facilitate water supply, irrigation and flood control in the river basin.

The project is one of the 172 major water conservation and water supply projects determined by the State Council of China. The reservoir capacity will be 1.17 billion cubic meters, and installed capacity 750,000 KW after completion.

The water control project is crucial for the development of Xinjiang where the distribution of water resources is extremely unbalanced.
