FAST approves 27 int'l applications for observation since operation

(ECNS) -- The latest science and research progress of China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) and international applications for observation were introduced by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) at a press conference on Wednesday.

A total of 27 applications for observation by FAST from 14 countries have been approved since it opened to global astronomers from March, 2021. FAST records the largest single-dish radio telescope in the world now as well as the most effective equipment for astronomical observation. It has found about 500 pulsars to date.

The annual observation time of FAST has exceeded 5,300 hours so far.
